Creating all the colors with sugar paste is possible, easy and cheap. Here is a practical guide on how to make the different shades of color to decorate your cake or make nice colored decorations.
All the colors of the chromatic scale can be mixed together to create different color variations. Starting from the primary colors it is possible to easily realize the secondary ones, combining the different colors together in pre-established quantities. The need to use a certain amount of color involves huge variations in tone. In fact, if you want lighter colors you need to use a larger amount of white that tends to lighten the final color. If, on the other hand, you want a darker color you will have to add a larger amount of black. With this basic rule in mind, you can combine all the colors to create your favorite color.
In the specific case of sugar paste it is very easy to combine the colors. Adding, in fact, quantities measured in grams of sugar paste of different colors and kneading well, the two colors will blend homogeneously in the color you want.

Below you will find an explanatory table on how to create color combinations. Once you have chosen the desired color, just check the quantity and colors to be mixed.
For example, if you want to create the lemon color you will have to mix white and yellow, but how much?
Very simple: to get 1 kg of sugar paste you have to add the necessary parts of all colors (in this case 4 + 3 = 7, the total parts are, therefore, 7). To know the necessary grams of white you have to divide the white parts (4) with the total parts (7), (therefore 4: 7 = 0,571 kg - 571 g). To know the necessary grams of yellow you have to divide the yellow parts (3) with the total parts (7), (therefore 3: 7 = 0.43 kg - 430 g). The sum of 570 g of white and 430 g of yellow applies to 1 kg of product. In case you need a different quantity, simply multiply by the desired quantity. For example: for 2.5 kg you have to mix 1,425 kg (0.57 x 2,5) of white sugar paste and 1,075 kg of yellow sugar paste.
Another example: to get a 1 kg of pink skin color sugar paste you must first add the necessary parts of all colors (in this case with the least common multiple we get that 5 + 1/16 is 81/16, the total parts are , therefore, 81/16). To know the necessary grams of white you have to divide the white parts (5) with the total parts (81/16), (therefore 5: 81/16 = 0.987 kg - 987 g). To know the necessary grams of yellow you must divide the red parts (1/16) with the total parts (81/16), (therefore 1/16: 81/16 = 0.013 kg - 13 g). The sum of the 987 g of white and 13 g of red applies to 1 kg of pink skin product. In case you need a different quantity, simply multiply by the desired quantity. For example: for 4 kg you have to mix 3.948 kg (0.987 x 4) of white sugar paste and 0.052 kg of red sugar paste.
The grams indicated in the table correspond to 1 kg of sugar paste. To increase the dose you will need to multiply the grams by the amount of sugar paste desired (for example to create 3.5 kg of the canary color you will have to multiply 857 x 3.5 to know the amount of white required and 142 x 3.5 to know the amount of yellow needed).
